ORTENSIA

“Ortensia” è un maglioncino romantico lavorato dall’alto verso il basso. Il corpo e tutti i bordi sono lavorati con il filato doppiato, mentre la parte superiore delle maniche è lavorata con il filato singolo.

Si incomincia a lavorare il dietro. Si montano tutte le maglie necessarie e si incomincia a lavorare i ferri accorciati.

Alla fine del lavoro, il dietro risulterà leggermente più lungo del davanti proprio a causa di questa costruzione.

Gli scalfi sono modellati da una serie di aumenti e, alla fine di questa sezione, le maglie sono lasciate in sospeso su un pezzo di filo di scarto.

Si continua riprendendo le maglie per i due davanti lungo il bordo dell’avvio. Sono speculari e sono modellati da una serie di aumenti che formano lo scollo.

Si continua la lavorazione in piano fino alla fine dello sprone, modellando gli scalfi come per il dietro. A questo punto si uniscono il dietro e il davanti, creando anche gli scalfi e si continua a lavorare fino a raggiungere la lunghezza desiderata. Il bordo del corpo è molto basso e lavorato a coste ritorte.

Alla fine, usando il filato singolo, si riprendono le maglie lungo gli scalfi. Queste sono molto ampie e voluminose nella parte superiore del braccio, per poi stringersi repentinamente e terminare con un alto polsino a coste ritorte, lavorato con il filato doppiato.

“Ortensia” (“hydrangea” in Italian) is a loose-fitting sweater knit from the top down. The body of the sweater and all of the borders are worked holding the yarn double; the upper part of the sleeves is worked holding the yarn single.

First the back is knit; it is shaped with a series of short rows and is knit in stockinette stitch.

The underarms are shaped using a series of increases.

When the underarm shaping has been completed, the stitches are transferred to a piece of waste yarn.

Next the two fronts are knit separately; the neckline is shaped with a series of increases; the rest of the stitches for the neckline are cast on and the two fronts are joined.

The front is worked the same as the back up to the yoke and the underarms are shaped with a series of increases. At this point, the front and back are joined, the underarm stitches are cast-on and knitting continues in the round until the desired length is reached. The body is finished with a twisted rib border.

Finally, the stitches along the armholes are picked up to knit the sleeves. The sleeves are very full at the upper part of the arms and taper rapidly ending with a deep cuff section knit in twisted rib stitch with with the yarn held double.
