“Istvàn” è un maglione oversized, lavorato dall’alto verso il basso in un unico pezzo senza cuciture.

Durante un viaggio a Budapest ho trovato una grande ispirazione nei motivi tradizionali ungheresi, così colorati e vivaci. Si possono trovare dappertutto, dalle stoffe, ai dipinti murari, al vasellame. Lo sprone del maglione, con la sua lavorazione a colori, è ispirato proprio a questi motivi. E ho voluto chiamare questo maglione con un nome ungherese per celebrare per sempre il ricordo di questo bellissimo viaggio. 

Si incomincia dal collo e si lavora un piccolo bordo a coste ritorte.

La lavorazione dello sprone si divide in tre fasi.

Nella prima si lavora la prima serie di ferri accorciati per alzare il dietro.

Nella seconda si incomincia a lavorare anche con gli altri colori e con la tecnica dei fili passati, inserendo gli aumenti per modellare il capo.

Nella terza si prosegue nuovamente con dei ferri accorciati per modellare le spalle e il dietro.

Dopo la separazione delle maniche dal corpo, i tre pezzi sono completati separatamente.

Le maniche sono lunghe; i bordi del corpo e delle maniche sono lavorati con un piccolo bordo a coste ritorte uguale a quello del collo.

“Istvàn” is a cozy sweater knit top-down in the round, in one piece and with no seaming.

During a trip to Budapest, I found great inspiration in the colorful and lively traditional hungarian patterns. There were everywhere: in fabrics, in wall paintings, on crockery. The colorwork yoke of this sweater was inspired by those patterns and  I wanted to give this sweater a Hungarian name in celebration of and as a constant reminder of this beautiful trip. 

Start by casting-on the stitches for the neckline and work a twisted rib border.

The yoke is worked in three phases.

During the first phase, the first series of short rows is worked to raise the back neck.

During the second phase, the other colours are added and the yoke is knit using the stranded colourwork technique; increases are inserted to shape the garment.

During the third phase, short rows are used to shape the shoulders and the back of the garment.

When the yoke is completed, the stitches for the sleeves are divided from the body and the three pieces are completed separately.

The sleeves are long; all of the borders on the body and sleeves are also knit in twisted rib stitch.
