GHIRINGHIRINGHIRAIA

Ghiringhiringhiraia” is a loose-fitting wraparound knit from the top down.
The knitting starts a long twisted rib cable positioned on the shoulders and across the back of the neck. Stitches are picked up along the long side of the cable to form the back which is shaped with short rows and knit in stockinette stitch to the end of the yoke. At this point the stitches are transferred to waste yarn.
The stitches for the first half of the front are picked up along the other side of the cable and, as for the back, worked in stockinette to the end of the yoke; a twisted rib cable is knit along the neckline: increases are added to shape the neckline. At this point the stitches are transferred to waste yarn.
The second half of the front is worked symetrically with respect ot the first half.
The three pieces are then joined, the armholes are shaped and the cardigan is knit to the desired length, continuing with the increases along the neckline opening. At this point a wide twisted rib stitch border is added. The wraparound cardigan is constructed so that the back is longer than the front, adding an interesting touch.
When the body of the cardigan has been completed, stitches are picked along the length of the neckline to work a wide twisted rib border.
Stitches along the armholes are picked up to knit the short sleeves, which also are completed by a wide twisted rib stitch border.
