Vinella era una giovane contadina che aveva il bel viso rovinato dal vaiolo, una terribile malattia. Nonostante il suo volto deturpato, un giovane si era innamorato di lei, che però lo respingeva perchè si vergognava. Vinella era figlia di una strega e quando fu cresciuta le compagne streghe della mamma la chiamarono a partecipare ad un Sabba infernale. Vinella, curiosa, andò per partecipare, non accorgendosi che il suo innamorato la seguiva. Purtroppo, però, se ne accorsero le altre streghe e, dopo averlo tormentato con scherzi di ogni tipo, gli misero in mano una corona di fiori, invitandolo a metterla in testa della più bella. Il giovane scelse Vinella e le streghe, invidiose, li cacciarono via, dopo aver cancellato loro la memoria. Quando tornarono a casa, con meraviglia si accorsero che la corona di fiori si era trasformata in oro e che il volto di Vinella non era più rovinato dalle cicatrici del vaiolo. Finalmente felici, si sposarono e vissero a lungo insieme.
Lo schema “Vinella Hat” è un romantico berretto lavorato bottom up e in tondo. È ornato con semplice motivo che ricorda la corona di fiori che portava sul capo Vinella.
Il bordo è a coste, decorato da un rollino decorativo lavorato a maglia rasata.

“Vinella Hat” is part of the collection of patterns inspired by the “Monti Pallidi (Pale Mountains)”, a chain of mountains in the Italian Dolomites.
Vinella was a young peasant girl whose beautiful face was ruined by small pox, a terrible disease. Despite her disfigured face, a young man had fallen in love with her, but she had rejected him because she was ashamed of her scars. Vinella was the daughter of a witch. When Vinella was no longer a child, the other witches – friends of her mother - invited her to participate in a “Witches’ Sabbath”. Being curious, Vinella went to the ceremony, but did not notice that her beloved had followed her. Unfortunately, the other witched had and after having tormented him with every sort of trick and prank, they placed a crown of flowers in his hand, inviting him to crown the most beautiful of them. The young man chose Vinella, and the other witches in their envy sent them away, after having cancelled their memory. When they returned home, they were surprised to find that the crown of flowers had been transformed into gold and that Vinella’s face was no longer disfigured by the small pox scars. Finally happy, they married and lived a long life together.
“Vinella Hat” is a romantic little hat, worked bottom up and in the round. It is decorated with a simple motif that brings to mind the crown of flowers that Vinella wore on her head.
The ribbed border is decorated with a rolled stockinet stitch edge.
