                                ……………………………………………………………………

If you know me, you also know that I have a love/hate relationship with Trieste, my city.
I see all its defects: it’s windy, cold, to bright, it stinks of seawater, and it’s small.
Then after a couple of minutes, I see all of its positive aspects: it’s windy, cold, and marvelously bright, the fragrance of the sea is inebriating, it’s small.
Trieste has a thousand faces, not all beautiful – but I love my city.
Living here is not easy: it takes an hour and a half by train to get to Venice, the people are cantankerous, they just want to sunbathe and travel, the bureaucracy and ultra-conservatism are worse than in other cities.
Living here is easy: when it’s sunny, a spritz, the sea and wind, what more could you want, Slovenia is just around the corner, the Carso has the most beautiful grottos in the world and everywhere you turn your eyes you see beautiful buildings … and, when they are in the mood, the people have a great sense of humor!
Yes, I have a love/hate relationship with my city.
